Mark 1:7 - "This is what John the Baptist proclaimed: "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals." "

"One of the really amazing things about this passage is John's statement that he, and so we, are not worthy to even help Jesus remove his sandals, which is a pretty lowly job. And yet Jesus would, in just a few years following this scene, willingly die for us so that we could be forgiven of our sins, so  that we could be redeemed in the sight of God, which is something that we could not possibly do on our won.  This is the good news, that we can be forgiven and so go on to live eternally with the Father and the Son in heaven." - Dave
